The moment you have been waiting for is here! The latest iteration of MIUI, MIUI 11 has launched. Let's take a deep dive into its features and what it brings to the table for you.

Let's put some numbers ahead and let them speak for itself. There are 8 Crore MIUI users in India, a huge shout out to every MIUI user. The amazing fact that this 8 Crore users comprises almost 20% of ALL Internet users in India is just phenomenal and a feat that we are proud of for moving the India in the digital age.

MIUI has a long legacy behind and has evolved enormously over the past 4 years from 2015, we have kept on providing amazing features every year to India users

Today, let's dive deep for the next evolution of the MIUI experience - MIUI 11. Let's go through, what MIUI 11 has in store in terms of design, how it makes you more Productive at Work and also what it has in store to make your personal life more efficient.

Let's start with the amazing design and the philosophy behind. In MIUI 11, we have taken a BIG step forward and cleaned up many elements of the UI to make it easier to use, more minimalistic where the actual content & features are the heroes, and takes the center stage.

We have removed the additional colors, to make the design more organic, a lot more natural in its entirety. All the changes are designed primarily to give our users an ultimate fullscreen experience and with the popularity of dark mode, it looks even more awesome in MIUI 11.

The next thing from a design perspective is that MIUI 11 is Always on, for the always on generation. A smartphone today is an extension of your personality, but it is a bit of a bummer that they all look the same when they are locked!

Changing that, with the Redmi K20 series we launched the always on clock styles which look quite cool. But we realised that there is a lot more to explore, many amazing opportunities to serve to  our Mi Fans with adding animations to that.

We've made your Lock screen come alive with the Dynamic Clock. And making it more exciting, we dug deep into our Childhood memories for inspiration

MIUI 11 has these beautiful symmetric patterns coming alive on on your display. Not just that, you can now add a personal touch to your phones to make it truly unique.

Many high end phones in the market have stopped using breathing light. We discovered that many of our users love breathing light and we decided to bring it back…in a whole new way! We have made the whole screen come alive and breathe!

After lock screen, we revamped the Wallpaper Carousel. We have collaborated with the team from Glance to give you a super cool dynamic lock screen experience. With a whole new image adorning your screen each time. Say goodbye to static lock screen images, the world has now changed!

A fun fact, most people light their phones almost 200 times a day! So that means 200 different images as your lock screen wallpaper, changing dynamically each time! Now that's what we call cool. We have actually been testing this feature for several months now. Now, every day we show 2 billion images to our users. that's 200 crore dynamic lock screen wallpapers each day for our Mi Fans!... And this number is still growing!

Then let us go further to Home screen Wallpapers, the other big aspect of personalising our devices MIUI comes with a Themes app which has amongst the largest collection of wallpapers in India. Our Themes app already provides 100k wallpapers.

Here are some examples. Now this can be dynamic too, lending a whole new level of excitement to your phones desktop. Our team provides such dynamic wallpapers. But that's not just, we are taking one step further to personalize this for you.

Introducing Video wallpapers. You can set Any video as your wallpaper. Lovely moment of your pet or your baby's first walk.

Coming to the new features in MIUI 11...The first set of features, is to help you become more productive at work.

Let's start with the Docs. We're sure many of you have used the File manager in MIUI, where you can find all kinds of documents and other file types in one single place. But since it's hard to find documents easily just by the file name, we've enhanced the experience to display the files as thumbnails, just like that laptop. This makes it easy to find and access relevant documents quickly.

And that's not all, often you would want to view the document or file and we have made it easier for you to view most common file types using the inbuilt preview tool within the file manager. All this happens without having to launch any external app like word or excel which could be time consuming.

We support all mainstream file formats.

This is powered by our partner WPS. It enables not just viewing but you can also enjoy features like table of contents & filters on excel sheet to make your work easier and more efficient.

For many years now, To-Do has been one of the most requested features by our Mi Fans. We now have it! Say hello to Tasks feature in our Notes app.

You can now manage your to-do list better by filing and organizing them with the help of our tasks feature integrated in notes app.

Record your tasks & sync it directly to your calendar.

And things to do come up in your mind at any point of time and you really don't want to miss that point. So, With just one-swipe from homepage. You can record and have an eye on the pending tasks, thanks to the easy to use Universal entry feature. Sometimes it is difficult to type. So we got it covered by the voice task creation. All you need to do is to speak and the voice task gets recorded.

Let's discuss one of the most common calculator use case. Let's just say you recorded all your Travel expenses diligently in Notes and then want to calculate the total spend. But it is way too painful to keep switching between the notes app and the calculator to do the math. To solve this problem we are introducing floating calculator. You can now put the calculator as a floating screen, a picture in picture over any other app and do your calculations. No more switching apps!

Not just this, we have also added many other calculators that you need in your daily life. Like Age calculation, EMI calculation, GST and split the dinner bill. Overall 8 new calculators to make your calculations quicker!

So that was about how MIUI makes your Work more Productive, We also help to improve the Daily life. With people becoming a lot more conscious about leading a healthy lifestyle, step tracking is now an important need. Since you pretty much carry your smartphone with you all the time, You can now track your steps using your phone. Your step count progress along with distance and calories burnt is easily accessible on your App Vault.

Next we have something very useful for our Women users: The period tracker. Tracking monthly cycles and knowing the next period date is a troublesome task for many ladies. In calendar app, you can track your periods so that you do not have to think or calculate the next due date all the time.

Another function to make your daily life easier: Quick Replies. We all know how annoying it is when we get a phone call while we are watching a video. Let's take a scenario where you are watching an interesting video, and you get a call. Now, to answer it or not to answer it, that is the question. And what if you get a message while you are watching a video? As soon as you click on notification it will open the message app

But not in MIUI 11, You can check messages without switching window or interrupting your video. Not just this, you can customize the setting of quick replies and enable it for any apps of your choice

So these are some of the key new features and designs that we are bringing to you in MIUI 11. We have a brand new design, and features to improve your work efficiency, plus some features to make your life easier. But these are not the only features that we have added in MIUI 11, there are many other interesting, innovative and useful features which you can explore when you get the new MIUI.

Here's the one more thing!

India is a land of diverse languages and dialects and actually most of us do not use English as our first or primary language. Sometimes we express our thoughts and emotions best in our native language.

Hence, taking another step forward, we introduce to you the first keyboard from Xiaomi “The Mint Keyboard”

To make it more personalized for our Indian users we co-developed our mint keyboard with a young and enthusiastic team of “Bobble", based in Delhi. With Bobble team’s great work. Mint keyboard supports English plus 25 Indic languages. Not only this, we have also made special optimizations for Indic languages.

Features like real time emoji and word predictions work amazingly for every Indic language, and even for Hinglish. Our new keyboard has all the features available in other keyboards like swipe to type, stickers, fonts etc.

The transliteration feature is quite common among India. Often while messaging we type things in our native language but transliterated using English. Things like ‘kya hall chaal’ or ‘ Sometimes we use Hindi words like GoodMorning,Good night as "Shubh Prabhat" and "Shubh Ratri"

With Mint keyboard you will find the exact Hindi words.We can provide you translated words along with the transliterations of the same word you type in your language. If you type "Dress" in Hindi on mint keyboard it will suggest you the english word "Dress". Also it suggests you the translated word of Dress in your language which is the exact hindi word you wanted to type "Poshak".

We all know how much we love to use emoji while chatting with someone to make our chat feel more genuine. In Mint keyboard we developed a real-time emoji suggestion feature, which is customized especially for all Indic languages. While using Mint keyboard in your local language, you will see emoji bar keeps shifting and trying it's best to give you the emoji in your mind. For example, When you type "Padhai" in hindi it gives you prediction of "Books" emoji.

In September we launched this keyboard on both Google Play and on Xiaomi GetApps. And we would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.
